Abstract :  The use of examples was always considered to be an essential characteristic of phenomenology’s descriptive approach to philosophy. The article intends to rigorously outline the place of examples in Husserl’s methodical conception, also pointing out some of their more problematic aspects, such as the analogy with the geometrical use of illustrations or the technique of eidetic variation.
